Stave Snare Drums
Woodland Percussion prides itself in the attention to detail incorporated in our handcrafted stave snare drums. Stave drums are designed specifically to resonate and vibrate as naturally as possible, creating rich tones and strong projection. This process is unlike typical modern drum shells, fabricated with either ply construction (thin sheets of wood bonded with glue and pressed into a cylinder) or steam bent (a single piece of wood heated and curved under stress).
Stave shells consist of vertically oriented blocks that are beveled and glued to create a cylinder. Allowing the grain to run in its natural direction and the staves bonded without any unnecessary stress plays a significant roll in achieving this superior sound. We currently offer a number of features and size options allowing musicians to not only design their ultimate dream snare, but a functional work of art as well. Available Snare Sizes & Thickness
All Woodland Percussion stave snares are available in the following shell thicknesses. The thickness of the shell greatly affects the drum's fundamental pitch and tone. This, in conjunction with each wood species' own tonal characteristics will play a part in creating the unique sound you wish to achieve.
Available Finishes
We offer a plethora of beautiful finishes, ranging from paints, stains, natural oils, and more. Samples of each finish option currently offered are provided below.
Please understand that not all finish options are compatible with every available wood species due to their natural color, grain structure, etc.
For exotic and heavily figured woods we highly recommend our satin natural oil finish.

Distressed
All distressed finishes are available in a combination of any paint and stain color currently offered. Please note that the base color can be a paint or stain but the top color can only be a paint. A few examples of our unique distressed finishes are shown below.
Hardware Colors
All standard hardware is available in Chrome, Black Chrome, and Brass unless specified otherwise.
Lugs
All Woodland Percussion snares and drum kits come standard with Tube Lugs. We feel this lug style compliments our snares perfectly due to their low profile design and classy appearance. Two lug layouts are currently offered:
